Biography

Robert was a Friend (Quaker)
Robert Owen was the son of Owen ap Evan and Gainor (ferch John) of Fron Goch, Merionethshire, Wales. [1]
On the 6th of 1st month (March 6) 1678 Robert's mother Gainor signed an agreement concerning a marriage settlement with Owen Humphrey, Esquire (of Llwundu), father of Rebecca Owen who became Robert's wife.
Robert & Rebecca had eight children. The first four (Evan, Gainor, Elizabeth, and Jane) were born in Merionethshire. The remainder were born in Merion Township, Pennsylvania. Their children were:
  • Evan Owen; born about 1682; married Mary Hoskins
  • Gainor Owen; married Jonathan Jones
  • Elizabeth Owen; married David Evans
  • Jane Owen
  • Owen Owen; born 12 month 21 (February 21), 1690 [2]; married Anne Wood
  • John Owen; born 12 month 26th (February 12), 1692[2]; married Hannah Maris
  • Robert Owen; born 7 month 27th (September 27), 1695[2]; married Susanna Hudson
  • Rebecca Owen; born 1 month 14th (March 14), 1697[2]; died as an infant and buried 9 month 21st (November 21) of the same year.
